life on the rose garden

There's more to life on the rose garden than meets the eye. I encountered the above sign a few feet from my house when I went jogging this morning. Usually they don't bother with the sign.

And sure enough, this is what I saw in the park. The toxins permeate the air; I was unable to jog in the rose garden outside of my house. You all are probably tired of seeing photos of pesticide application, as I am tired of encountering the scene day in and day out.

These are always the first roses to bloom each spring. The old-fashioned wild roses thrive in May and are already fading by June. I am trying to be positive about living here, especially in light of my recent attempt to buy an urban Victorian. It won't do me any good to be overcome with disappointment.

This is advice from the Law of Attraction which I am trying to abide by. Regret or struggle will hold me back. This has not been easy, but I do want my cork to float.

I thought you went to the park
to stop and smell the roses.
Not keep your hands off them till
the poison is dry.

There is that yellow protective
suit again. Makes ya wanna rip
the dang ole thing off him and
put it on the plants and animals.

HUGS!!

I don't like the chemical that are sprayed on EVERYTHING! There are safe things they can use, but probably they cost more and are more trouble. Grrr.

Dear Laurie,

Yeah, isn't it ridiculous? Breathing of any sort, never mind sniffing roses, is dangerous in this park. I could taste it on my tongue.

Betty

Dear Lynilu,

They could also be using organic nontoxic pesticides, and it wouldn't cost more. It's hard to bring about change. I tried when I first moved here and it became so stressful that I had to give up.

Betty

Nope never get tired of your rants about the pesticides. I agree 100%

I try to be a cork too!

Dear Patti,

The cork thing has been challenging after losing that house. It's really not too late- I'm sure they're still within the "backing out" period, so I really want to be positive and accepting and appreciative and harbor no ill thoughts. I might still get the house! Heaven help me!

Betty

Men in suits with masks spraying stuff always makes me nervous....creepy.
One of the things I notice when I drive at night in PA is that bugs and lots of them still go "splat" on the windshield. In long Island that has not been so for as long as I can remember.
"splat" on the windshield is reassuring.

Dear Simply Me,

Yes, indeed; "splat" on the windshield is good. I know that they spray the entire city here for mosquitoes. Heaven knows what else they do that I don't even know about.

Betty

My energy got me in trouble today. I tried to accelerate on my bicycle and lost control, topping over and bruising my shin. And my front wheel is bent now. Oh, the pain of regret. I guess I'll press on and change tires. Just keep pushing on, right?

Dear Big Dave,

That excess energy of yours sounds like a good thing. It's the chanelling that's tricky, eh?

No regrets, indeed.

Betty
