Monet's garden

I spied this image of a Monet painting while perusing blogs today. This is one that I'm not familiar with, but I find it most appealing.
I've always wanted to have my own garden like Monet's at Giverny. I suppose it's no wonder, then, that I ended up living on a park which features views like this one:

The similarities are remarkable, don't you think? Granted, the park isn't my own personal paradise like Monet's garden was for him, but I also don't have to tend the garden or pay the gardeners, except through with same tax dollars that every city resident pays.

I regularly see artists set up here in the park with easels like Monet's. They seem to be using "en plain air" techniques which Monet advocated.

Very early in the morning and after sunset, the garden is devoid of visitors, and I pretend it's mine.

It is your, Betty, because it's what you see outside your windows with your own two eyes, smell with your own nose, walk through with your own feet :)

And I haven't ever seen anything closer to Monet's Garden than it !

Dear Annie,

You're right. Sometimes, I admit, it's a bit annoying to see the park overrun with visitors, especially now that the weather is perking up. But no matter how many people are there, the experience is mine, and it's right outside of my front door.

Hugs,
Betty

Dear Skoots1mom,

Even now, before the roses bloom, we have the scent of spring bulbs and flowering trees. It's a nonstop buffet of aromas!

It is a remarkable likeness. No wonder you were drawn to the painting. Both are beautiful.

A friend of mine has been forcing herself out to to en plain air. She had become "lazy," her own words, so she goes out at least once a week. However, her productivity is better when she stays inside to paint, so she tries to balance the two in order to make enough to keep her art possible.

Ahhh, spring.

Dear Lynilu,

I've even thought of trying "en plain air" myself. It would make me nervous to have all the park visitors peering over my shoulder though. At least I'm not an artist so I have no reputation to uphold!

Hugs,
Betty

Dear Laurie,

Well, the good news is that you're still reading other people's blogs, and we know you're OK! I miss reading yours, though. Thanks for coming back to read mine!

Betty, painting (or whatever form of art expression one chooses) is for the joy of it. I'm not an artist, myself. But I no longer care about what anyone thinks when they look at my painting. I do it for the fun, the pleasure, the joy. Go and paint and remember .... it is for you, not them. :)

Yours words ring true. I'll do it!

Dear Patti,

Yep, in a way it is mine! And I guess Monet is my favorite artist. I have a pop-up book of his garden!

Betty
