betty does photos, part 1

This is the view out of the window in the "eating area" of my house. The "eating area" is too small to be called a dining room, having space only for a small table and two chairs. Here you can see the public park, featuring one of the world's largest rose gardens, just beyond the privacy hedges. It's nice to have no vehicular traffic in front of our house. The only "traffic" we see consists of joggers, walkers, dogs, squirrels, chipmunks, a ground hog and even a fox.

This is the view from outside of the house, looking in at the "eating area." The Chihuahua is on top of the table, keeping watch over the "traffic." Take note of the orange trim on the windows which was just applied last week by yours truly.

Here is the Chihuahua perched on his table in the "eating area." He is forever grateful for the views of the rose garden, and he considers himself quite the watchdog.
Below is the newly painted garage, complete with a whirlingbetty color scheme. I can just imagine what my realtor would have to say about that if my house was still on the market. The next installment of "betty does photos" will feature the downtown neighborhood.

How Fun! Whirling colors, photos and layout appropriate to betty's lifestyle: creative and free.

I can't wait for the next installment. Photos fill out so much of what you are saying. Keep it up.

Thank you Garnet, for the encouragement. I had quite a hard time uploading the photos and then trying to center them with text. It didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, and I wanted it to be longer but it was just too much trouble. I will still produce the next installment, though.

Hugs,
Betty

Betty!!

I'm so happy to see you!! I love having an adorable face to connect the stories with!!

Of course, I love your view. If you saw the view from my "eating area" (which actually is a small dining room that's made even smaller by the fact that my piano had nowhere else to go), you would cringe. I should take a picture of that scene, but I'd feel bad for doing so behind my neighbor's back.

I think I could sit right next to your little chihuahua friend and enjoy several cups of tea while staring out that window!

...Can't wait for the next installment!!

Dear Lisa,

Part of the reason I decided to start using photos is that I thought it might add to my own appreciation. That's always good. It won't add to my clarity, though, because yesterday I went to the coveted neighborhood for a photo shoot (for the next installment), and those photos are just as alluring as the ones of my current setting. I did realize that to truly compare, I need photos of the current neighborhood (not just the house and park). So this series might go on for a while! I hope I can learn to do a better job of centering things and placing text.

Hugs,
Betty

Betty,

I just had to go through all that with my post from yesterday. It took FOREVER to try to get the pictures "just so", and then I accidentally lost the whole post while editing!! I had to start all over. "Preview" doesn't help much, either, because the pictures and words looked great in that, and then when I published the blog, everything was distorted. So I re-published the blog about eight times until it looked as good as it was going to get!

And I think your idea about visuals is a great one! This is obviously something that is extremely dear to your heart, and I'm glad you're taking control of your situation and trying to come to the best conclusion for your life!

Hi Betty:

What a beautiful view from your eating area and I love the other pictures of your house. One day my husband suprised me and put birdfeeds in the trees right outside my office window. Now as I am on the computer working I can watch the different birds eating.

Thanks for your blog. Helen

Dear Helen,

If I had shown a photo of the view out of the other window in the eating area, it would have shown the bird feeder. They can be very entertaining!

Thanks for stopping by.

Betty

Dear Lisa,

Hah! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has problems dealing with the photos, although I'm not glad that you too have to experience the frustration!

I found myself downtown again today with the camera and the child, and it is becoming obvious how much more appealing that neighborhood is. The remaining question will be whether or not the park setting of the current house is strong enough to offset the neighborhood issue. The neighborhood shots here are ugly!

Betty

Happy Sunday to you, Annie, and welcome back! The views from the living room are like this as well. You'll be seeing more now that I've gone photo!

How ambitious you are to be doing all that painting yourself! I love the wallpaper in your "eating area" and who cares what the dingbat realtor thinks of your decorating. The rest of us love it! You really have to rethink the idea of moving away from that park, rose garden and jogging area--- it sounds just wonderful. I'm glad that you have figured out how to put in the pictures. I'm going to have to get busy and take some --- now that I am back in Ohio where Spring is busting out all over!

Dear Kacey,

I'm glad that you had a safe trip back to Ohio! And thanks for appreciating my wild paint job. I was going to do it when I first put my house on the market, but the realtor put the kiebosh on it! Everything was white before, and you know those realtors worship white.

I'll look forward to some springtime photos on your blog!

Hugs,
Betty

Dear Simply Me,

Thank you, and once I get the hang of it I'm sure I'll be doing a lot more with photos. Today I tried and had trouble again... I'll figure it out eventually!

oh yeah, you could call it a 'breakfast nook'

Awesome pictures Betty. Hey I love your color scheme! Thank so much for giving us a peek into your world!

Hah! Yeah, that's right- a "breakfast nook." I wouldn't have thought of that, since I've only eaten breakfast there once or twice. Thanks, Carrie.

Dear Desiree,

You're very welcome. I'm glad you like my colors- not everybody can appreciate them.
