I had a dream

This photo pretty much sums it up. I took this last month in the neighborhood where pedestrians and Victorian houses prevail, located adjacent to downtown on its northern edge. I've never liked driving. (I'm not too thrilled about other people driving either but I can't control that.) If we lived in this neighborhood, I could walk to work, and the child and I could walk to stores, restaurants, arena events, concerts, a gorgeous urban park, a huge farmer's market, an ice skating rink and even the child's school!

This is the house I had picked out for the child and myself. As of August 28, 2006, I was in contract to purchase this very house. The house we had been living in had just gone into contract, and I was planning to be moved into this Victorian house by Thanksgiving 2006. Then things went terribly wrong. The buyers of my original house changed their minds and backed out of the contract! I kept my house on the market for a few more months, then gave up after obsessively crunching numbers and deciding that I really couldn't afford the more expensive urban neighborhood.

Anyway, this is one of the landmarks we would have frequented had we moved. It's a historic farmer's market located just a few blocks from the above house.

Here's a peek at the interior of the farmer's market. Gourmet cooks love to shop here, where they can find everything ingestible, of the very highest and freshest quality.

Here's that urban park mentioned earlier. It's just around the corner from the house, and it's ever so cool.

Who says there are no kids in urban neighborhoods? The child looks mighty "at home" here, doesn't he? He's a natural born urban dweller.

The child enjoys some liquid refreshment at a hip coffee house just down the street from the park and the house.

This is my kind of place, for sure.

Oh Betty, I totally see you and the child there ! I will not give up on that vision - it simply is too solid.

Indeed. That "Stop Driving" sign sums it up. We need more of those around all cities. I would agree with "loving annie". Don't give up.

Betty,

Please don't give up on your dreams. Anything is possible...if you need proof, go to the "comments" section of my latest blog and read the comment from "dgroove"--and my subsequent comment afterward. I think the positive vibes are finally coming into my life. I know you have a rough road ahead of you in the near future, but if things can change for me, they can change for anyone.

Dear Annie,

Thank you for your strong validation. I am kicking myself for letting fear of financial difficulty stop me from pursuing my dream. What I didn't say in the post is that someone else bought "my" Victorian house. But I won't give up, I guess- maybe there'll be another house..

Hugs,
Betty

Dear Garnet,

Good to see you again! And yes, I'm thinking of putting up some of those "Stop Driving" signs up around town. I'm sure it's illegal, but what a great way to break the law. You know, those hybrid cars are fine, but why not just STOP driving???

Hugs,
Betty

Dear Lisa,

You're right- I do have a rough road ahead, which I haven't been writing about much, but it's coming...

I will read the comments you suggested.

Hugs,
Betty

To breathe is to live and you are still breathing. The possibilities are endless. Even if its not that house, there is an urban house for you in the future. Affirmations are wonderful, just say "this will be so"

Dear Maria,

Yes, thank you for the reminder that the possibilities are still endless, no matter what kind of turmoil might be brewing in one's life. It won't be this house, because someone else bought it, but who knows? Maybe there'll be a better one someday....

Hugs,
Betty

Woaaaaaaaah cool.. You have a Chinhuahua... We love chinhuahuas....

B.S. said...

Dear Arunesh Kumar,

We love Chihuahuas too, but ours is a bit difficult to live with. He is hyper and yappy (our last Chihuahua was not) and can't be trusted to not have an "accident" in the house. But the dog is very cute, luckily for him.

Betty

Good Tuesday evening, Betty !
How are you and the Child doing tonight ?
Maybe somebody bought that particular Victorian house; but I daresay there might be another one that you will utterly fall in love with for all of the same excellent reasons when you go shopping again...
Dreams plus action makes things happen...
Keep thinking of it, wishing it, belieiving it, visualizing it -- and saving your pennies...
There just might be a seller within the next year that you are the perfect buyer for --

Betty,

I'm commenting back to you here, instead of my own blog--I hope you don't mind.

That comment threw me, as well as several other people who are close to me, for a total loop. I guess maybe it's easier for some people to say things in writing? I knew he had become very spiritual in the last few years after we had a particularly bad incident and he seemed to hit rock bottom (he admitted it was his fault). He was never religious, never thought about God, etc. I've really seen such a difference in him, within the last five years especially. If I ever needed proof that God can change someone's life around, trust me, this is it.

I know you are only at the beginning of your journey into dark waters with your ex. But please keep the faith. Your son looks about the age that my daughter was when we divorced, and ten years later, she really is a "shining beacon of light", as is my son. I pray that your ex finds it in his heart to think--REALLY think--about what he's doing to that child emotionally by doing what he's doing. Maybe he'll see the light, Betty--keep praying, and more importantly, keep the faith that everything will work out for you and your child in the end. If God brought you to it, he can lead you through it.

Dear Annie,

It is kind of ridiculous for me to think that there'll never be another house, isn't it..the truth is, if that one really was perfect, I would've bought it. That just came to me. I like your dream plus action plan. That works for me.

Betty

Dear Lisa,

Your ex's comment on your blog does give me hope. It's hard to imagine that my situation could ever end up like that, because Bruce has never done anything but blame me, but 10 years ago I know that you never expected your ex to come around either.

Bruce's delusion is so strong that I fear he will convince the judge that he's father of the year. He was smart enough to not leave witnesses in his wake; the child and I are the only witnesses to his outrageous emotional abuse. We do have a police report from his rampage last December, but very little evidence other than that.

I am going to latch on to your wish and prayer that Bruce will become capable of seeing the truth about what he's done to his little boy. It is hard to imagine, but as you say, this is about keeping the faith.

Thank you so much, Lisa. I am fortunate to benefit from your experience.

Hugs,
Betty

Hmm, I could have sworn I left a comment before on this post. I wonder what happened to it.

Anyway Betty this looks like a beautiful place to live! I can see why you love it so much and it's so you! I really think you will have it someday. Right now you have to get through these hard times but this too shall pass and then it will be easier for you find a way to make this dream happen for yourself and your son.

Dear Desiree,

I also thought you had already left a comment on this post, but I don't know what happened to it! Anyway, "This too shall pass" is a good one for me right now. I think I'll make it a mantra!

WHat a cute house and a TERRIFIC farmer's market. I would love a market like that within walking distance. Heck, I'd like one like that to drive to. We're lacking pitifully in the farmer's market department. *sigh*
